The last time I spoke with Jared was when he had completed his very first comic, For the Love of the Game! Now he’s releasing Howie the Hellhound, and this mini-series is coming from Scout Comics! Here’s the description: “Satan’s favorite pet, a Hellhound named Howie, escapes the pits of Hell and settles down with a human owner, Louise, in New York City. Kaijus and Cowboys is described this way: “Matthew Blair (Writer/Co-Creator) and Frankie B. Washington (Artist/Co-Creator) have partnered to launch KAIJUS and COWBOYS, a 22-page SciFi/Western/Monster comic 12-Issue series set on an alien world in a far-off future.” It focuses on a HunterBot tasked with fighting monsters preventing humans from colonizing a planet. We talk about how this series came to be, how successful it has been in crowdfunding, delve into the characters, and talk about how creative the writing and art is in the landmark comic! Ed Brisson returns to the podcast this week in Episode #596, and we discuss his upcoming Marvel’s Alpha Flight mini-series as well as his current DC title Batman Incorporated!

Ed is a comic book writer who first started to garner attention with his self-published crime series MURDER BOOK. He broke into the public spotlight in 2012 with the crime/time-travel thriller series COMEBACK (Shadowline/Image Comics). Since then, he’s written and co-created four other series published by Image: SHELTERED, THE FIELD, THE MANTLE, and THE VIOLENT. MURDER BOOK was collected and released by Dark Horse in early 2015. Ed has also written for DC, Marvel, BOOM, IDW, Aftershock, and many others.
